Russian Lip Filler
A new technique arrived in the world of aesthetic treatments, and it is growing in popularity. But what actually is “Russian lip filler”?
The Russian technique provides an alternative to established versions, and give a distinctive look created using different techniques. It’s already hot on Instagram, and many celebrities are opting for it to give a more dramatic result.
At Rejuvenate, we love to keep up with all the latest developments in our industry. Here, we take a closer look at Russian lip filler technique, and its associated benefits.
What is Russian lip filler?
Russian lip filler is simply a gimmicky name for the ‘tenting’ technique which has actually been around for a long time in the lip filler world. The technique gives the lips a more enhanced shape, resulting in a broader, flatter appearance and is a technique used by many practitioners for other complicated lip shapes such as the M-shaped lip. The ‘Russian’ technique can give the lips a lovely heart shape with a defined Cupid’s Bow.
Russian lip filler treatments meet the need for a voluminous, plump lip without any hint of a ‘trout pout’. The process redefines the mouth’s contours, and can help with unevenness, a loss of volume or thin lips.
We should point out that the look is not suitable for everyone and may not be what everyone wants, there is also no absolute guarantee it will look any more natural than the longer- established alternatives. But it’s an option that many are taking an interest in.
How is lip filler done?
Russian lip filler uses a different technique called ‘tenting’. Essentially, the practitioner injects small droplets of the filler (typically hyaluronic acid) into the lips from the base of the lip upwards, to create a heart-shaped appearance. With standard lip augmentation, there is horizontal injection from the lip border working inwards; with this treatment, injection is vertical at multiple sites. The filler is dragged upwards from the base towards the top of the lip, and with this procedure, the ultimate aim is for lips which are bigger in height rather than volume.
How long does Russian lip filler last?
Typically, results last for between nine months and a year, but regular top-ups will ensure your gorgeously plump lips retain the shape you’re after.
And … does it hurt?
Pain during this procedure is very tolerable. We offer a medical grade numbing cream to minimise discomfort. Or, if you’d like to be completely pain free during the lip filler treatment then we can do a dental block (free of charge).
You may experience a little more bruising than with similar techniques, but only because of the multiple injection sites and smaller needles, but this quickly heals up.
